U15 Lakers
U15 Lakers are 13 & 14 years old, and for the 2026-2027 season that means their year of birth is 2012 and 2013. Our U15 Lakers play in the Central Alberta Hockey League (CAHL).
Last season we had two U15 Lakers Teams who had great seasons.
SLMHA is also host to the West Central Hub who provide U15 players with the opportunity to play at the AA level. This is the West Central U15 Tigers. If you are interested in trying out for the U15 West Central Tigers, there is a $200.00 tryout fee applied to U15 SLMHA Registration Fees.

NBC Team Information
- Based on registration numbers and the number of tiers available in CAHL for contact hockey, SLMHA intends to field a NBC team in CAHL this year. Like last year, this can change based on NBC teams available in CAHL, however all indications with local minor hockey associations are positive for having NBC function in CAHL this year.
- Players assigned to the NBC team will still have the opportunity to affiliate with contact teams in U15 this season.
U15 FEE & STRUCTURE
As we strive to grow and develop as an Association, SLMHA has reviewed feedback from members and as such will be implementing a two-part fee structure. We believe this will give our SLMHA members the opportunity to have a successful and unique season that best suits the player.

$1,200.00- Core Level Fee $1,400.00 - After July 31st +$150.00 - Tryout Fee |
U15 Advanced Level Fee
$1,300.00 - Advance Level Fee $1,500.00 - After July 31st +$150.00 - Tryout Fee |
U15 AA Tigers Fee
$3,300.00 – U15 AA Fee $3,500.00 - After July 31st +$200.00 - AA Tryout Fee +$150.00 - U15 Tryout Fee |
*Players who do not make the Elite or Advance Level teams during tryouts, will be refunded the difference between Core , Advance or Elite Levels fees. Tryout fees are non-refundable.
CORE LEVEL REGISTRATION FEE
- $150.00 Tryout Fee for all players interested in trying out for U15 teams
Core level Includes:
- Skill based team placement
- No additional registration fees
- Core Level Fee places player on a skill-based team in tiered hockey
- ONE practice per week PLUS weekend games
- Teams will continue to play competitive games within their CAHL tier(s)
- Participate in tournaments within CAHL (Tournaments may have additional costs)
- Optional Development Ice may be available at an additional fee
ADVANCED LEVEL REGISTRATION FEE
- $150.00 Tryout Fee for all players interested in trying out for U15 teams
- Players released from Advanced tryouts will automatically move down to next level of tryouts
Advanced Level Includes:
- Players play advanced level hockey (Tiers 1-4 Teams)
- TWO practices per week PLUS weekend games
- Teams will continue to play competitive games within their CAHL tier(s)
- Participate in tournaments within CAHL (Tournaments may have additional costs)
AA REGISTRATION FEE & TRYOUTS
- Sylvan Lake players trying out for AA must pay the AA Participant fee and both the AA & U15 Tryout Fee.
- Players released from AA tryouts will automatically move down to next level of tryouts
- Once players have been rostered to teams, fees will be adjusted accordingly where required
